Thailand is the ideal destination for those who enjoy a mix of the bustling city and serene islands. If you fly into Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, you’ll be greeted by warm smiles and the fast-paced lifestyle of Southeast Asia. Flying into Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is one route you can take or Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), both situated 40 minutes apart. You can venture off to Phuket, one of Thailand’s many islands, by flying into Phuket International Airport (HKT). If you’d like to experience both locations, a domestic round trip ticket is as cheap as $50 USD. Popular airlines include Bangkok Airways, Thai Airways, Thai Smile, etc. Phuket is home to many popular tourist sites including Tiger Kingdom, Big Buddha, Bangla Road, Phuket FantaSea, Patong Beach and more. It’s easy to access the Phi Phi Islands and James Bond Island by boat from Phuket. It’s best to book a tour that takes you to at least 9 islands and includes transportation to and from your accommodation and all taxes and fees. Bangkok hosts the well known Grand Palace, Wat Arun Ratchawararam, Siam Paragon, MBK Center, Safari World, and Wat Phra Kaew. The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is located 1 hour and 30 minutes outside of Bangkok and is an excursion you should plan to leave very early for to beat morning rush hour traffic. Transportation in Thailand is similar throughout all parts. Taxi, Tuk Tuk or motorcycle will be your main options. Feel free to negotiate prices as this is the Thai way of shopping. A vendor or service provider will name their price in Baht, Thai currency, and you reciprocate by using the calculator on your phone to type in a counteroffer. You may do this for rides, clothes, and some street food. Overall Thailand is definitely a bucket list vacation for many and an undeniable good time.
