Seminyak and Ubud, Bali

December 5, 2020

FLIGHT:
The flight to Bali is LONG! There’s no way around it when coming from the U.S. We recommend selecting a flight with only one layover, if possible. You can save money by opting for a flight pattern with more layovers; but, you’ll regret that decision later.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
We opted for an Air BnB in Seminyak and a more upscale resort in Ubud. We recommend both. We have video tours of each accommodation on our YouTube channel: The Forrester Chronicles

Seminyak: Air BnB (Villa Etania)

Ubud: Kamandalu Resort (Valley Pool Villa)

RECOMMENDED ACTIVITIES: All of these places, and much more, are shared in our travel vlogs. Watch those if you want to actually see the locations and the vibe at each.

SEMINYAK:
-La Plancha: great food and hookah. The downside- many people will come up to you attempting to sale items. Just say “no thank you” and they’ll leave. However, I know this can be annoying to some, so keep that in mind

– Eden Hookah Club: they have amazing hookah and it’s beautiful inside. It’s a perfect evening chill spot.

-Potato Head Beach Club: our favorite! Get there right at 10am, when they open, if you want a day bed. They go fast and you cannot reserve them ahead of time.

UBUD:
-Ketut Cooking Class: this was our most memorable experience in Bali. We cooked a 5 course meal and the cost was very affordable (350,000 Rupiah which is about $25 USD)

-Bali Pulina Coffee Plantation: this location has amazing views. It also has a swing if you don’t want to go to the official “Bali Swing”.

OTHER ADVICE/INFO:
-Current currency exchange: about 14,000 Rupiah is about $1 USD

-Every DAMN body has a dog in Bali. This can get annoying. If you walk past them and they start barking—look down and just keep walking.

-Grab is VERY convenient and affordable in Seminyak; however, it is looked down upon in Ubud. So, we don’t recommend relying on Grab in Ubud. Download the app beforehand. You can pay in Rupiah or link a card. It works just like Uber/Lyft
