Visiting Peru was my first time in South American and first solo trip

Where to Stay: I recommend staying at Pariwana hostel. They have two locations in Peru: Lima and Cusco. It’s a great place for meeting new people, having fun, and the staff is really friendly. Many of the locals pre-game at this hostel before going to the night life places.

Adventure: While in Lima, I recommend taking surfing lessons. The instructors at Kño Surf were really helpful and took their time to teach me. I was able to stand up and ride the wave and it was my first time attempting to learn. Also, Paragliding on the coastline of Lima is an absolute must, especially during sunset.

Things to See: In order to see Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, and Laguna De Humantay, it takes a one hour flight ($70) from Lima to Cusco. These are sites you don’t want to miss during your visit to Peru. If you’re not an experienced hiker, they have the option to ride a horse near the top of the mountain & lake or a bus to see Machu Picchu

What to eat: The Ceviche (marinated raw seafood) and Lomo Saltado (sautéed strips of sirloin with rice) are two of the main Peruvian dishes. Cuy (Guinea Pig) is also a dish to experience for the adventurous eater.
